The Pressures of Life…Maybe?

Happy New Year!  Yeah, I know it’s like the third week of February but let’s say I’ve been…BUSY!

I’m about to turn 40 in a few days.  Most of the time you hear about people having mid-life crises.  They start to get really stressed, re-evaluating their lives and looking at the “shoulda,” “coulda,” “woulda’s.”

Not me. I’m actually excited about it.  Pretty Dang Excited!

I have taken time to put some things in perspective, especially after last year…

Last year was let’s say… complicated

On paper, 2012 should have been one of the worst years I’ve had with the last quarter just being downright outrageous.  I mean, the most bizarre and crazy stuff.  My sister says talking to me is like watching a movie on Lifetime…and  I HATE Lifetime movies. But after thinking about some of the stuff  that’s on there, my life is like that at times.  I can’t really go into the specifics at this moment (I’m chomping at the bit to eventually share them with you), but the last two years it has been a wild ride.

So, I had a long conversation with a friend last week and somewhere in the discussion, my friend talked about the fact that I don’t complain much or at all about my drama. And if I do complain the time is very short and usually wraps up with some positive end that I am anticipating. I’ve heard that from a number of my friends lately which came to a surprise to me because back in the day I was quite the complainer.

But I guess as I get older, I try to put things into perspective and move on.  I may also help that I really don’t give a damn half the time.  Guess it’s a 40’s thing…?

What’s your Perspective?

There are a lot of people who have things worse than me.  It’s not to say that I want to be a martyr, but every time I take that “whoah is me” route God sends an example of a situation that I could really be in.

Seriously, one day I was having one of my pity parties and was looking out the window.  At that very moment, an old guy walked by my house with a grocery cart full of junk.  He was looking around for things to put in his cart.  He had a shovel in case there was an opportunity to make a few quick bucks.  My party ended abruptly.

God messes with my mind like that a lot.

Sometimes we are put in these situations to help other people.  Since I’ve been going through my situation I’ve been able to encourage and help others that I may have never been in close contact with.  It has changed my view on why I go through certain ordeals in the first place.

I’m not saying that the problem is not there because it is there vying for my attention, but like I wrote in an earlier post, we make the decision giving the problem the attention that it is seeking.  So negative spirits it’s time to find somewhere else to go because there are no vacancies here.

So if you’re going through something, be encouraged.  It is just temporary.  That temporary could last a few years but at some point be optimistic that the thing will come to a crashing end…and work out it your favor.

I’m just letting you know that 2013 is MY year.  I can just feel it.  Crazy GOOD stuff has been happening so I am sooo stoked and will definitely keep you posted.
